What's on my mind today.
He was thirteen. His brother and he were killed in a house fire. Another brother was left with severe injuries that would require multiple surgeries. The mother was left with that son, her daughter, and the clothes on her back. And she was left with a decision.
Think of her today. And of the child who would have been sixteen, looking forward to a driver's license, the last days of school and the Memorial Day weekend.

A sad day and yet a fortunate one for those of us who know you.
Not to trivialize such an important topic, but I just now realized something. Memorial Day and the weekend dates associated with it change each year so it would be hard for me to remember the exact date this happened. I just realized, though, that it's the same day we fixed for our dog's birthday. :o) (The rabies certificate we got from the shelter estimated he was 8 months and 2 weeks old when he got the vaccination on 2/28 or thereabouts, and the neutering certificate said he was approximately 8 months and 1 week or something like that when they did that procedure, also around 2/28. We simply settled on May 25 because it seemed an easier date to remember than 5/18.)
So we have two things to be grateful for this weekend.
I WILL think of her and be greatful that she made the decision that she made. She gave you a gift from the heart and through you her son has a lasting legacy.
Hugs
An amazing and beautiful act of generosity that I'm deeply grately for.

I'm pleased to add myself to the list of people of those who know you. :)
Our meeting would have never happened without her her decision.
I will be thinking about her today.
Thanks for the reminder. It's a very life affirming declaration, the donor card. And the mother of the child who likely would not have been old enough to decide to be a donor, deserves double credit. I'm grateful you got your liver, and I'm glad you continue to thrive.
((Hugs))
a big ole 'me too' from me to you, regarding our collective online gratitude. i'm still thinking of you, kid.
